The more you hang out in the energy of Truly Madly Smiley, the easier it is for you to learn and live what you learn. There’s a whole library of magic (100 episodes) for you to explore. It’s not just about listening to fix a particular problem. It might start out like that, but the learning goes deeper to our hearts when we make a commitment to listen. Listen as often as possible, and have fun with it! It’s like learning anything new, we do a little at a time as we are introduced to new words, new feelings and new experiences.
Smiley Tip: Go slow, be kind and gentle to yourself. Trust that even though you can’t always see your progress, it’s happening! You can’t get left behind, you don’t need to know it all, and you can’t get it wrong. If you don’t like an episode, skip it. You can always come back to it later.

Got Questions?
Is there a right way to introduce it?
- If you’re a PARENT, make it an exciting reason to have some quality time together or casually pop it on while you go about your day and lead by example. If you’re a PROFESSIONAL, I would use it as a learning resource to generate discussions or to encourage sharing of beliefs, perceptions, thoughts and feelings in a 1-to-1 setting. It could also be used in the classroom for children who struggle to emotionally regulate as a positive alternative to ‘time out’.
- Watch the demo or go to your DOWNLOADS to read your free guide. I will be sending you regular emails to keep you on track and offer you support. It’s easy but like anybody trying anything new, it will feel hard because you haven’t done it before! Move through any discomfort by taking action.
- Have fun with it and don’t take it too seriously! Keep it light and don’t try to control outcomes. Where possible, let the child explore, choose episodes and lead the way.
- Don’t worry about getting it wrong – there is no right way to do it or one particular episode that is going to magically transform your life. Just start and notice the positive difference over time. That’s how real lasting changes are made.

Yes, you can set up your private podcast link via Alexa.
Alexa needs a podcasting app in order to play podcasts. Your Alexa will probably default to a one of the major podcast players like Amazon Music or Spotify.
As a member your podcast link is private, so go to your Podcast Subscription. Here you will see your private podcast link that you need to give to Alexa on a podcasting app that your Alexa account has access to.

Which episode do we need / should we listen to first?
People and their problems are complex but the solution is simple.
Developing your child’s emotional learning and ‘making friends’ with Truly Madly Smiley, to build on knowledge and skills is the key to resolving any struggle. Whether it’s the pressure of school, sibling rivalry, an inability to sleep or settle at night time, overcoming fears, worries, intense emotions, dealing with change, friendship dramas etc. These are just some of the topics I tackle as children have brought these to me over and over again.
We make friends by listening little and often. Checking in with ourselves and carving out time as an act of self care.
This is because all behaviour is driven by emotions and all emotions are driven by thoughts. So whatever your child is struggling with they need help with their emotions and their view of the world (beliefs, thoughts and perceptions). Lasting change doesn’t happen over night – even adults are listening to Truly Madly Smiley and learning more. Many of us were not taught this growing up. So now is the time – life gets much easier when you understand this missing piece to your happiness puzzle.
Any tips on dealing with resistance?
All resistance is fear. Children mirror us – so be aware of how you feel and see if you can dissolve your fear. What helps is to give yourself permission to:
- get it wrong – there is actually no right way to do it. Everybody will have a different experience and you are not responsible for that!
- enjoy it and be playful with it.
Children may fault find and say it’s babyish. They may feel uncomfortable with all the feelings certain episodes bring up. They may appear disinterested or not want to engage. They may oppose you and get into a power struggle.
When we are scared we need to feel like we have some control. This blog post explains how to move beyond fear and gives you a script of what to say if you’re being met with resistance. It works for any situation where your child won’t co-operate.
Go slow, give choices and keep trying. If it’s not their thing, don’t worry! I’m not everybody’s cup of tea. If you still like it and are learning, there’s nothing to say you can’t still listen.
Any tips on distracted or wriggly worms?
REMEMBER: Any resistance is fear (see above Q). It may well be that they feel overwhelmed by their feelings. Feelings come up to be felt and understood. Take a break. Give them choices. Try not to get into a power struggle with them and make it a negative experience.
Can I share it with others to help them?
I would love for you to encourage more children to listen. When they see you doing and succeeding, they will want some of that too!
