Randomly, I’m afraid of the dark … I know right?! Fears can be irrational. I wrote about seeing Shadow Man as a child in my book. Many children I worked with have seen him too.
This is NOT a morbid fascination with gruesome details. Perhaps more of a spiritual quest and part of my insatiable curiosity to understand that which we cannot see.
Mostly, we fear what we don’t understand
So then it’s up to us to give life and death meaning, and formulate our own beliefs around it. Lots of my clients have experienced death in their family which goes undiscussed (not always people – sometimes beloved pets) and it has traumatised them.
Particularly after COVID, death naturally became a hot topic, but once it was brought into the light, it took the charge out of it. Otherwise it has so much power over us. That’s true of most things and yet still, we’re afraid of having difficult conversations.

Are you comfortable talking about death?
Granted, it’s not easy, BUT it’s part of life – probably the most certain part for all of us. The detective part of me loves to get to the bottom of everything. I like investigating people who died young or in suspicious ways.
Think: Elvis, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, River Phoenix, James Dean, Michael Jackson. Now some of them were sadly drug addicts, but the question is: how did they get there?
Denial is part of the sickness
Michael Jackson and Elvis convinced themselves they didn’t have a problem because prescription meds are not the same as street drugs. They were also surrounded by enablers who benefitted from them financially.
‘Addictions always originate in pain, whether felt openly or hidden in the unconscious.’ It’s not a choice that anybody makes; it’s not a moral failure. What it actually is: it’s a response to human suffering.” Gabor Mate
And no! I don’t think Elvis is still alive and eating cheeseburgers in the Golden Arches, but I will be going to see the new biopic film. It’s had rave reviews.
It’s so sad that many of these stars die tragically, suddenly, and often violently before their time. Have you heard of The 27 Club?
Some of them seemingly commit suicide, or OD on drugs, yet they are suffering, pushed down a path which isolates them and makes them feel there is no way out.

Was it written in the stars?
This month I’ve been exploring the natal charts of Princess Diana and River Phoenix as a way to understand elements of my own astrology.
I also watched channelled videos by mediums to understand what happened to their souls when they died. I learn a lot from watching how people connect to their intuition and receive messages from the other side. It helps me strengthen my intuitive gifts.
Princess Diana
In Princess Diana’s life, it was obvious that all she longed for was a solid and stable family. We can also see by the Yod in her chart – sometimes called ‘The Finger of Fate’ that she was here to break ancestral karma in this lifetime. Her death impacted the collective conscious because people born with a Yod in their birth chart are people who are destined to change this world; people who are truly meant to shake things up and seal the fate of the future!
A Yod contains a strong energy and those with this aspect have a difficult time with this frazzling and neurotic energy, especially earlier in life.
Both of Diana’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, have birth charts with Yods. Meghan Markle has a double Yod as well.
River Phoenix
River Phoenix had a 29th degree moon in Taurus in his birth chart. The 29th degree is a critical degree (also called the Anaretic degree). It can also mean that some part of your life is fated or has a mission attached to it depending where it is in your chart. Those born with the 29th degree will challenge the status quo and break moulds. In respect to this planet, they are between two “worlds” so to speak.
Oh hello! – there it is again, the title of my book!
One leg here, one leg on the other side, they become like a bridge for others to transcend the limitations and conventions of this planet. They see a bigger picture.
For Phoenix, this meant a lot of tragedy around his life ending in a violent death. He actually died at 23 years old from a lethal drug overdose of heroin and cocaine in Johnny Depp’s old Hollywood nightclub, The Viper Room.
I have both a Yod and a 29th degree moon in Scorpio in my 8th house of transformation, crisis and death. That’s why I went down that rabbit hole, and I still feel like there is a lot to unpack there.
Like a Phoenix rising from the flames, I am no stranger to overcoming complex trauma. Scorpio is a water sign and feels things deeply, with a tendency to have an addictive and obsessive nature which explains why my overthinking and curiosity became a full time job.
